SkinTyte: A Non-Surgical Solution for Skin Firmness

A SkinTyte treatment is for patients who want to see some improvement in the firmness of their skin,” says one of the well-qualified medical aestheticians on staff at the Rios Center for Plastic Surgery. “It’s good for people who are trying to avoid the surgical route. It is also not a cellulite treatment. But it is an awesome, awesome treatment.”

SkinTyte is a Sciton laser-based treatment for promoting skin firmness. “It works by gently heating the target area through a massaging motion with the Sciton handpiece,” our aesthetician explains. Using infrared light, the soft tissue below your skin is heated, initiating the body’s natural healing response, the creation of new collagen. The more collagen produced, the firmer the skin, so our aesthetician recommends multiple sessions for the best results.

“It’s a procedure that requires consistency,” says our aesthetician. “It’ll be three to six months before the most evident results can be seen. Some patients will see results quicker, some will take the six months. You have to be diligent. You have to be patient. You have to be consistent. We are going to work together to get good results.”

Typical treatment areas include the face, neck, arms, thighs, and abdomen. The heat generated by the treatment is often experienced as a gentle sensation of localized warmth. “The Sciton handpiece has a built-in cooling device, so it’s a cool surface that’s in contact with your skin, not a hot laser,” says our aesthetician. “The Sciton laser is the absolute top of the line.” Acquiring technology like the Sciton is just one example of Dr. Rios’ commitment to bring the best care and medical technology to South Texas.
